After finding out 626 missing children in last 4 years, recently Rourkela Police started ‘Operation Muskan-3‘ to find out the rest 95 children from Sundargarh.

The operation is to trace missing and destitute children and reunite them with their parents.
In a recent report of a regional newspaper 215 children went missing from 2013-2017 in Sundargarh & 172 only rescued whereas 43 are still missing. Crime branch special DG BK Sharma & IGP Asit Panigrahi will lead the operation to find out the missing children.
At the same time in Rourkela 506 children were missing in between the year 2013-17 where as only 454 get rescued.
SP Uma Shankar Dash said that under the operation ‘Muskaan 3’ which will be continue till August 13, 9 different teams will be investigating in Odisha & 8 different districts out side the state.
Operation Smile was a brainchild of former Ghaziabad SSP, Dharmendra Singh, which turned out to be a successful step in tracing missing children.  Taking inspiration from Ghaziabad police’s ‘Operation Smile’, in which 227 children missing from the area were rescued in 2014 from different parts of the country in one month, the Union home ministry asked all states and union territories to start a similar drive.
