The national game ‘Hockey’ and the place which has contributed its most extreme to this game is the city Rourkela. And this season when the Hockey WorldCup fever is on its peak now, Rourkela has earned the opportunity to host the first rehearse match of the Hockey World Cup in the heart of the city.
The Hockey World Cup games which are scheduled to start from 28th November till 16th December 2018, will actually kickstart from Rourkela before the opening ceremony.
In the presence of Rashmita Panda,CEO of RSCL, Monisha Banerjee, ADM Rourkela, Uma Shankar Dash,SP Rourkela & NIT Dean Professor Simanchal Panigrahi, Hockey Coach Milton Bilung, the administration and organisers conducted a high-profile meeting, where it has been decided to hold a practice match at Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium on 4th November.
Rourkela Municipal Corporation has been picked as the nodal centre & RSCL Rashmita Panda has requested Rourkela Steel plant to provide all the necessary help to make it successful.
After quite a while, Rourkela city is eagerly and energetically waiting to host the Australia New Southwales XI team and now we can say that finally, our wait is over as the noisemakers are coming to the steel city on 2nd of November to play against the Odisha Hockey team.
