All these years since the declaration of Smart City, Rourkela Smart City Limited has organised various public gatherings to address the issue of Rourkela citizens and ended up understanding that people need entertainment! That’s correct!
It’s probably the high priority of the RSCL when contrasted with damaged road, and solid waste management system.
Without any concrete aim and objective RSCL’s recently declared 1st Brahmani River Festival turned out to be a super flop show on its’ inaugural day itself. Showing moral mirror to the authority, thousands of Rourkelites boycotted the so called mega event.
With only a handful of people, practically every one of the seats arranged at the scene for open were unfilled and the main thing that is humming around in the city is not the event but the administrations priority of doing such a show in a time when people are facing hundreds of problems and the authority seems to be acting as an event management company.
Why So Hurry?
From quick tender call, process and endorsement to the event company to the dramatic onstage preparation, citizens of smart city Rourkela are now asking questions and pointing fingers on the Rourkela Smart City Limited & Rourkela Municipal Corporation.
“I don’t know the true motive behind it! Without discussing with all the local organisations and understanding the need of the people of Rourkela, what was the urgency of doing such event and wasting nearly a crore of taxpayers money on an event?” asked Kumar Dev, one of the residents of Vedvyas, Rourkela.
With the increasing unsatisfaction among people, hope RMC will be able to conclude the event peacefully however there are lot of questions which will be coming on their way very soon!
