Okay! Now, this is surprising. Though we know that Odisha has a very vast and old culture, and it sounds so thrilling when we hear that our ancestors were the part of a well-selltled civilization in Odisha and that too 4000 years ago.
In a shocking and significant discovery, the Archaeological Survey of India has found some strong pieces of evidence on human civilization and their existence.
The survey team excavated and found ancient artefacts, grain at Bharatihuda. A place near Jallarpur village located on the Prachi river bank.
According to the ASI, agriculture was the chief occupation of the inhabitants in the civilisation. They were using weapons made of animal bones for hunting the fish and birds. The age of the settlement was arrived at after radiocarbon dating of charcoal samples found at the site by the Inter-University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) in New Delhi.
The world-famous Sun temple of Konark, located some 30 kilometres from the excavation, was built in the 13th century CE.
The tradition of Sun worship seems to have evolved with human settlements in the region, Mr.D Garnayak suggested. He is the Superintending Archaeologist of ASI’s excavation branch in Bhubaneswar.
The researchers even discovered some deadly weapons of the ancient time which are made up of bones instead of stone or wood.
The asianage report suggests that the researchers described the discovery as ‘rare’ in eastern India.
