Mount Everest and its death zone which is considered to start a bit below 8000metres have taken many lives in the past. The deadly region where there is not sufficient available oxygen for humans to breathe have likewise observed many Bravehearts. One of them is Odisha’s first woman mountaineer, 53 Years old Kalpana Dash.
Just a day before Kalapana dies at the balcony area of same Mount Everest, which she has conquered 11 years ago on 21st May 2008 and accomplished glory for Odisha.
After reaching the peak, she had trouble walking because of which she was coming down with the help of their team leader. When they reached the balcony area, her breathing ceased.
In 2008, after Kalpana scaled the Mount Everest she said that “It is due to God’s mercy and the best wishes of my family that I was able to scale Everest and returned safely. I’m happy and am keen to attempt climbing it again.”Kalpana Dash
But unfortunately, things turned out badly!
Kalpana Dash was the only woman from Odisha, who has scaled almost every deadly mountain of the world.
This includes Mount Kilimanjaro of South Africa, Mount Aconcagua of South America, Mount Elbrus which is Europe’s highest peak & Mount Kosciuszko of Australia and all these without oxygen.
Before the mission, she had said that the purpose of this expedition is to encourage women to participate in the adventure sport and spread the message of world peace, fraternity and women empowerment.
The death toll on the world’s highest peak this season goes up to 8 in a single week.
