The nation and the state which is hosting Hockey Worldcup, threw out its’ own captain from a VIP lounge on Wednesday.
The incident took place at Kalinga Stadium, Odisha when Indian Hockey team captain Manpreet Singh and some other Indian players entered an unauthorized lounge wrongly.
And the controversy started when Elena Norman, CEO of Hockey India herself yelled at Indian players and later forced them to apologize and threw them out of the VIP lounge.
“Shut up & Get Out. Who invited you here?” Hockey India CEO Elena Norman shouted at Manpreet, Mandeep Singh, Gurjant Singh and Krishan Pathak.
And it all happened because they were not wearing the proper band and entering into the area not meant for Indian players.
However, Manpreet Singh, later on clarified the incident and said “it was our mistake & players were not allowed in the lounge.” Later on HI officials made it clear and said it was not the players but the people who brought them inside the lounge who were being addressed by the CEO, as per the protocol players are not allowed to access the lounge and it can lead to thier suspension.
But as a host of the event, local organisers of Odisha might take the matter to the concerned authority and committee.
