Just few days to go for Stop-A-Thon in smart city Bhubaneswar.
A mini marathon against acid attack will be organised by A New Hope and Institute for Social Development at Kalinga Stadium here on May 27.
“The marathon called ‘Stop-A Thon’ will be flagged off from Kalinga Stadium here and culminate at the same venue after covering four kilometres. The objective of the marathon is to sensitize people, particularly youths, to support acid attack survivors and to create awareness on women’s safety”, informed acid attack survivor Pramodini Roul in a pres s conference here on Tuesday.
She said there has been a rise in acid attack cases in Odisha. “As per the data, 59 such cases were registered in the state between 2001 and 2018. There is an urgent need to generate mass awareness to stop such attacks,” she added.
The event will create public awareness about the cause and help raise funds through donations from participants, the organizers said.
