10th December it was and from Vice President to CM, everyone including thousands of players were present at the inaugural ceremony of Worlds Biggest Rural Hockey Tournament. But what draws attention was the Hi-Tech Medical students of Rourkela wearing white apron, standing with all decency and yet saying a lot through their placards.

Now you must be thinking ‘What the medical students were doing in the stadium and that too in the apron?“. The answer is ‘They want everyone including the CM to notice them‘. Now you must be thinking why to notice these guys tucked in shirts with glasses, right?

The reason is Supreme Court verdict, which has cancelled the admission of 100 MBBS students of Hi-Tech medical college in Rourkela who had taken admission in the year 2015-16.

In November 2015, the apex court had ordered a stay on the admission in 100 Medical seats in Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital, Rourkela. The verdict came after the MCI moved the apex court following the High Court verdict[interim order] after which Hi-Tech authorities had admitted students through an entrance test, violating The Orissa Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Fixation of Fee) Act, 2007.

In November 2015, the apex court had ordered a stay on the admission in 100 Medical seats in Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital, Rourkela. The verdict came after the MCI moved the apex court following the High Court verdict.

Now since the court in its order has clearly said that neither the students or the institution can claim any equities, the students had no other option but to protest during the inaugural ceremony of the tournament. but their plea seemed to be fall on deaf ears.
