1 min

Humor apart! In spite of our awareness about traffic rules, we feel proud of breaking the law and getting away with it. Now, a new section has been added to the Motor Vehicles Act by a group of state transport ministers meant to set some stringent rules against those who break the traffic laws. And this months old rule will now live you in splits. It’s a complete new dictionary of fine.

And the laws are so strict, that either you should follow it strictly or you should start browsing on the internet to buy a new bicycle. Amaku au gadi chalei debeni na kana!

So what the new section says:
1.) Speeding, dangerous driving, jumping traffic signals, drunk driving, using mobile phones while driving and not wearing helmet may result in on-the-spot suspension of driving licences.

2.) Immediate withdrawal of advertisements, films and TV serials that show speeding and rash driving without “adequate warning” on the screen.

3.) Rs 5,000 or six months jail for first time offenders, while for subsequent offence, there would be two years jail or Rs 10,000 fine.

4.) Higher penalty will be imposed on drivers who fail to take crash victims to hospitals, in cases where they face no mob fury. Fine of Rs 2,000 or jail term of up to six months has been proposed for such drivers.

5.) Driving without insurance could attract Rs 2,000 fine and three months jail for first offence and Rs 4,000 fine on subsequent offences. Crash victims will be liable for compensation if they are hit by an uninsured vehicle.

6.) To ensure that neither individuals, dealer or body builders interfere with construction and maintenance of vehicles, the GoM has proposed Rs 5,000 and up to Rs 1 lakh fine respectively.

As you know the rules now, so start obeying the traffic rules and save yourself from fine and more over save your life as all these new rules are only for the safety of people.
