Harmanpreet Kaur has replaced Mithali Raj as Indian women team’s T20 international skipper for the upcoming Asia Cup and West Indies series. However, Mithali Raj has been retained as One-Day International captain & Odisha’s Sukanya Parida has got a place in the team this time.
The BCCI announced the India squad for the home series against the West Indies from November 10 and Asia Cup to be played in Thailand from November 27.
While Mithali raj has retained as skipper in ODI, Odisha’s Sukanya Parida got a place in ODI team for the upcoming series. Sukanya hails from Naamouza village of Kendrapara district and is currently playing for neighboring West Bengal. The 23-year-old right-arm medium-fast bowler and right-hand batsman was part of the Challenger Trophy-winning India Red. She had put up an impressive performance during the tournament drawing the attention of the selectors.
While a couple of debutantes have been included in the team, Harmanpreet Kaur was named the new captain of the Indian women’s T20 team replacing veteran Mithali Raj. Mithali would, however, remain the ODI captain.
