Odisha Universities to Collect Body weight of students & Ban Junk Food in Campus

The University Grants Commission (UGC) in a letter to vice chancellors of all universities has asked to take measures to sensitize students on “ill effects of junk food” as well as start orientation programmes for faculty and staff on health issues by the commission. You heard it right! It means now the students will have to go through tough times finding the unhealthy junk food inside the campus.

After the instruction of UGC to issue instructions against availability and sale of junk food in higher educational institutions, Odisha universities and colleges are preparing themselves to put a ban on the junk food inside the campus. Till that time students will wonder which colleges are in the list, UGC recommended few other things that will blow your mind!

“Not only that Universities across the country have a novel task on hand — they have to collate data on students’ body mass index (BMI), body weight percentage, waist-hip ratio and other health indices.”


While the KIIT students are still trying to find out if the same will be implemented in their campus,  Utkal & Ravenshaw Universities students leader have got a new issue to raise during election to avail junk food near college if they will be voted.
