In the world of emails, whats app, where people sending messages to their dear ones to get an instant reply; there’re still a few people left who have a nostalgic attachment with the letters and depends on postman instead of their android phone.
They can’t just move on from this age old form of sending messages from one place of the country to another and they love to wait for the response from the other side, hoping their letter conveyed and expecting that they will get a response soon. But NO! It’s not the case here.
A village in Odisha has made a new bizzare record for the worst ever postal service in decades. Now you must be wondering why?
This incident happened in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, where a postmaster failed to deliver more than 6000 letters for over a decade. According to the reports of Hindustan Times Jagannath Puhan, officiating as branch postmaster in the Odhanga branch of post office in Bhadrak has been suspended for his negligence of duty.
“I have suspended him after it was found that he (Puhan) had committed gross dereliction of duty as well as breach of trust. Further disciplinary action, including dismissal, would be taken after inquiry,” Sarbeswar Mishra, superintendent of Bhadrak postal circle told Hindustan Times.
Later on the postal department managed to deliver over 1500 letters in the past few weeks. While the suspended postmaster said that, “For several years I could not walk properly and was not in a condition to deliver these letters.” As a result he dumped all those letters in an abandoned school which was spotted by some of the school school children.
